Sent to NHK

I was so lazy such that I forgot that I was supposed to upload this. Taken 12 Aug 2009, when I sent one copy to NHK Japan. The photo was blurred because I was using my old Palm Treo 680 - VGA quality HAHA. Too bad, I did not hear anything back from them :(

NHK interview -- di blog orang!

Aku lagi iseng malem ini, lupa nanya Bu Lily ataupun Ayumi-san soal siarannya di NHK (karena biasa take it for granted kalau Pak Harry selalu memberitahu dan merekam siaran ke keping CD dan dikasih aku kalau di RSI Mediacorp). Terus abis dari Jepang, kan aku ke HK n Bali dalam waktu yang sangat berdekatan... Jadi ya, I completely forgot to ask about it.

So surprised to find this person -- I assume he/she lives in Japan, n definitely is able to understand Bahasa Indonesia... -- and with Google's help, I found this post about my NHK interview.

Don't ask me artinya apa itu huruf Jepangnya, karena aku bisa dibilang "buta huruf kotak2" -- well, cuma bisa mengenali sedikit sekali karakter sih... So I have dropped an e-mail pakai Bahasa Indonesia (hahahha, PD amat kumat, kan pasti NHK Siaran Indonesia yang harus reply me?). Dari pengalaman, lebih enak nulis dan ngomong Bahasa Indonesia ke orang Jepang yang bisa Bahasa Indonesia hehehe. Aku tanya apakah mungkin die-mail ke aku tuh podcast siaran, karena di website NHK Bahasa Indonesia sistemnya arsip cuma seminggu doang...

BTW, resensi Pak Harry juga diblog sama orang lho...

Kayaknya orang-orang di atas memang sukanya bikin arsip artikel / acara yang menarik perhatian mereka. Terima kasih, Arigato gozaimasu!

Seingat saya, topik utama adalah sakura. Yes, sakura was the main topic.
Mengapa saya tour melihat sakura? (self-fulfilment because of my first novel titled Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama)

Mengapa judulnya Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama? (Itu sih metafora, sakura bersemi itu romantis bangetzzz, dan judul itu menggambarkan adegan terpenting dalam novel: adegan pernikahan tokoh utama, saat sakura bersemi).
Cuma ada satu orang yang bisa menebak dengan benar mengapa judulnya SBdY (dari sekian banyak orang) hehhehe: Bu Johanna Wulansari Istanto, convenor Bahasa Indonesia di NUS. Hehehe, jelas dong, kan convenor, mesti pakar Bahasa Indonesia, dan pernah tinggal di Yokohama pula *_*

Why titled Sakura Bersemi di Yokohama? (It's a metaphore. Cherry blossoms is so romantic and the main scene of the novel is the wedding ceremony during the cherry blossoms *_*)
There is only one person who can guess why I titled my novel that way correctly. She is Mrs Johanna Wulansari Istanto, convenor of Indonesian language at NUS. Not a surprise as she is an Indonesian language "expert" and she lived in Yokohama in the past.

Tapi benarkah sakura bersemi itu penting sekali dan romantis? (Sudah diriset, benar, banyak pernikahan dijadwal pada sakura bersemi hehehe). Tambahan: begitu selesai interview, di Yokohama sendiri saya menyaksikan dua pernikahan di tempat yang berbeda!!!)

Apakah saya pernah melihat sakura di negara lain? Have I seen sakura in other countries? (hehehe, Korea last year)

Bagaimana pengalaman melihat sakura itu? How is the experience of viewing sakura?
Secara mikro dan secara makro... Micro view, the flower is so simple... (bunganya sederhana) Macro view, when it's a stretch of sakura trees, wow! it's incredible! especially if you see the degradation of the colour from pink to white... (Tapi secara makro, kalau serentetan pohonnya, wow! Degradasi warna dari pink sampai putih...)

I can't recall other questions, but I think the standard question like my future novels, who encouraged me to write (Dr Dede was the first person - with no teaching background who has similar opinion as my former teachers and lecturers).

My wish... someday I can walk enjoying the cherry blossoms (especially in Minato Mirai area, and not necessarily the foreign cemetery in Yokohama) with my future husband, together with my parents and his parents!!!

Friday Afternoon @ NHK Studio Shibuya (bacanya Shibuyak)

Cerita background
Jujur saja, saya tidak pernah bermimpi bahwa saya suatu hari akan pergi ke NHK (dan diwawancara di sana pula). Apalagi orang tua saya hehehhe, mereka sering heran mengapa anaknya bisa gini bisa gitu tanpa merepotkan mereka...

Semua dimulai dari tahun lalu, saya kan sudah berencana mau melihat sakura bersemi di Jepang... Terus Pak Harry Suhartanto (RSI, Mediacorp) bilang ke saya, "Yun, kalau kamu jadi ke Jepang, bilang-bilang ya. Aku ada teman di NHK..."

Tapi kan tahun lalu tour melihat sakura dibatalkan semua tuh dari Sg karena sakura bersemi seminggu lebih cepat dari perkiraan. Bahkan pemerintah (gak tau dah badan apa yang bikin perkiraan sakura mekar), sampai minta maaf kepada publik atas kesalahan prediksinya...

Jadi tahun ini, dengan lebih berhati-hati melihat penanggalan sakura (maksudnya pattern recognition otak saya dikerahkan), saya benar-benar bertekad bulat harus melihat sakura bersemi... Nah dua hari sebelum saya terbang, Pak Harry tiba-tiba saja memforward e-mail Bu Lily (Pak Harry kalau manggil Mbak Lily -- yahh mereka kan umurnya di atas saya hehehhe). Lalu saya mengirim e-mail ke Bu Lily, dan janjian ketemu begitu saya terbebas dari tour...

Saya sempat kebat-kebit bingung mau pakai bahasa apa waktu telepon ke Bu Lily. Pertama telepon ke rumah, karena telanjur sudah "Halo, selamat malam", ya saya berharap semoga yang mengangkat bisa Bahasa Indonesia hahahah... Untungnya suara anak kecil laki-laki di seberang kawat menjawab dengan lancar bahwa Bu Lily masih di kantor.

Lalu saya telepon ke kantornya. Wah insting saya langsung memerintahkan, English English... Jadilah saya berbahasa Inggris, tapi setengah jalan, kok orangnya yang awalnya berbahasa Jepang, lalu Inggris, tiba-tiba berganti Bahasa Indonesia... *hihihihi* dan bilang kalau Bu Lily nya sudah pulang...

Jadilah saya menelepon ponsel Bu Lily yang waktu itu sedang di supermarket. Dan diberi petunjuk bagaimana cara mencapai NHK Studio Park di Shibuya (exit Hachiko patung anjing). Nah di sana ada Koban (Polisi).

"Ada shuttle ke NHK, 150 yen." Saya bener2 bingung karena Shibuya station itu besar, dan busnya banyak sekali... orangnya juga banyak banget oiii, jadi saya ke Koban nanya bus mana yang ke NHK, disuruh menyebrang, cari bus No. 2).

Saya dan Bu Lily Yulianti Farid yang mewawancarai saya (padahal malam sebelumnya di telepon nggak bilang kalau mau wawancara hahahha)

This is Mrs Lily Yulianti Farid and me. She was the one who interviewed me (despite the night before, on the phone she did not tell me that she was going to interview me hahahah) Bersama Ayumi-san (dia tinggal di Yogyakarta setahun, kuliah di UGM lho... Terus di Jakarta setahun). Orangnya baik dan ramah sekali. Senyumnya manis *_* sekali seperti Bibi saya di Yogya. Bahasa Indonesianya lancar bin lancarrrrrr... =D Senang sekali deh ngobrol sama Ayumi-san, rasanya seperti ngomong-ngomong sama orang Indonesia, setelah berhari-hari dicekoki Bahasa Mandarin di tour ANA dan Bahasa Jepang di semua tempat wisata, hotel, everywhere, saya setengah mati menggabungkan Bahasa Inggris dan Tarzan (kadang pakai kamus Jepang juga) buat komunikasi sama orang Jepang hahahha *_*

With Ayumi-san (she stayed in Yogyakarta for a year, studying at the best university in my hometown, Gadjah Mada University. Then she stayed in Jakarta for a year). She is very kind and very friendly. Her smile is soooo sweet *_* reminds me of my aunt at home. her Indonesian is very good, very fluent, just like native speaker!!! I love talking to her, it feels like I was talking to fellow Indonesian, after days I was forced to listen to Mandarin tour guide and hearing people speaking Japanese everywhere. I combined English and Tarzan gesture (with Japanese pocket dictionary) to communicate with Japanese hahaha...

Day 7: NHK Insider Tour (Part 2)

It is called NHK Studio Park, of course it is in the middle of parks... There is Yoyogi Park & Stadium nearby. There is Meiji Shrine (National Park, if I am not mistaken). And it has a very spacious parking lots. Basically it is an old building erected in 1960s, but it is self-sufficient, just like a town by itself. NHK Building has its own supermarket, book store (Japanese books only though), a bank (ATMs and tellers). Much better facilities than Mediacorp, I shall say as NHK is also easily accessible (no need to take Tokyo expensive taxi ride).

I feel that I am quite lucky and blessed to have chances visiting Media station with invitation from an insider (from TVRI Jogja in high school time due to my province geographic competition shooting - my team won the first prize and I was the spokeperson haha, then Mediacorp, then this NHK).

You'll find this everywhere, Nanami-chan, one of the mascott for children shows. It reminds me of a drink called Qoo in Singapore (is it a Japanese brand?)

To join the studio tour, you have to pay about 200 yen? It was free in the past, but many homeless people often use this studio to take a nap, so NHK starts to charge people. Anyway, I didn't have to pay coz of Bu Lily hehehe =) There is this learning studio where children tried to be news reader, weather forecast, etc. The result is shown in the TV monitor (bottom right). Bu Lily asked me to try (sudah jauh-jauh ke NHK masa gak mau coba sih?). She told me: tell them you want the script in English or Indonesian. Eigo! Eigo! Fortunately I lost in paper-sccissor-stone -- kalah hopimpah hahaha *bersaing sama anak-anak, memalukan yahh*

There is a dubbing studio, unfortunately all the scripts are in Japanese n saya buta huruf Jepang!!! Padahal itu ada yang Shin-chan! SOBZ. Seandainya my lil sis Martha Rinna (atau at least Riana) ada di situ, pasti lucu banget dubbing suara Shin-chan...

NHK has on-site shooting (the old Japanese village, house, samurai-thingy, just like those you find in comics). I was able to watch some shooting from the window above the shooting site (it's like medical interns in Grey's Anatomy observing the surgery from the special room-stage). It was so exciting!

With Mrs Lily, I went around to see what is inside NHK office... Berantakan, ya rada mirip kantor Mediacorp deh... Tapi ini completely open cubicle concept... Japanese culture (as I learnt in my MBA study)...

Ternyata di bagian siaran Bahasa Indonesia, semuanya bisa Bahasa Indonesia (of course!). I remember a funny story told by Pak Harry during lunch at Plaza Singapura yesterday (24 April). In the 1990s, he was working with BBC and there was this media conference. His boss from BBC is an Englishman, and there was this NHK boss (Japanese). The Japanese could not speak an understandable English, and the English could not speak Japanese. Guess what language they used then? Bahasa Indonesia!!! HAHAHA, lucu banget ya, bule sama orang Jepang malah lancar asyik ngobrol dalam Bahasa Indonesia =D
